BBQ Cauliflower Wings

BBQ Cauliflower Wings

You won’t believe how meltingly tender and delicious these BBQ Cauliflower Wings are but they will blow you away. Made with a considerable nutrition upgrade from the usually deep-fried alternative, they manage to have a crispy coating and full flavor despite it. Pick the vegan BBQ sauce you like best: sweet, tangy, spicy, smoky, whatever! Just expect it will be a little sticky and hard to resist eating the whole thing.

BBQ Cauliflower Wings

1 large head cauliflower, washed and cut into large florets
1½ cups all-purpose gluten-free flour or flour of your choice
(I used this one)
4 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1¾ cups plain, non-dairy milk
1¼ cups plus two tablespoons your favorite vegan BBQ sauce, divided

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large, wide bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Mix together the non-dairy milk and two tablespoons of BBQ sauce. Pour into dry ingredients and mix until thick and smooth. Using tongs, dip the florets in the batter until all florets are coated and place on your lined baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and lower the temperature to 400 degrees. Using tongs again, dip the baked florets into a bowl of the remaining BBQ sauce, dredging until coated and place back on the baking sheet. Bake for an additional 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with a little salt, allow to cool briefly, and serve.
