Hummamole Spread
What happens when you combine the best of hummus and the best of
guacamole? You get the perfect sandwich or wrap spread. Combine creamy
chickpea paste with silky avocado and you get the best of both worlds:
familiar but with an intriguing twist, this is a protein-rich spread
that is the perfect canvas for a nutritious veggie sandwich. If you
want something that is a lower-fat substitute for guacamole, you can
also use this, thinned out a bit with more water or lime juice.
Hummamole Spread
15 ounces chickpeas, rinsed and drained (save dat bean water!)
1 ripe Hass avocado, cut into chunks
2 – 3 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons water
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon tamari
¼ teaspoon (or more) cayenne (optional)
Salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Whirl together in a food processor until it is as smooth as desired. Spread on a sandwich or wrap and enjoy!
