Banana Creamsicle Sorbet
At
one point in my life, Orange Creamsicles were my very favorite frozen
treat. I’m not sure what it was about them: I hadn’t gotten into
chocolate yet (yes, there was a time) and I guess just the orange
creaminess was just perfect for me. I have not had a Creamsicle in many
years but I think that this frozen treat, does the trick, easily
whipped up in a food processor or a high-speed blender. Once you get
the hang of making frozen banana confections, you will find yourself
buying one or two bunches every time you go to the grocery store. They
are so simple and so delicious. My main tip: always start out with very
ripe bananas, speckled with more brown spots than yellow. They are
sweeter.
2 1/2 ripe bananas, peeled, chopped and frozen overnight or for a few hours
1/2 cup orange juice (I used orange-peach juice)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
In a food processor: Add
the bananas to the food processor and process on pulse until it all
gathers up together. Add your liquids and process until everything is
integrated.
Or in a blender:. Add the liquids first and then the banana on top of that. Blend until all is combined.
Enjoy!
To make it less orange-y/more creamy, use 1/4 cup of orange juice and
1/4 cup almond milk or vegan creamer. Sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon
and eat that nomminess up.
